OfS TEF consultation puts student evidence under review
Updated Oct 27, 2026
On 22 October 2026, the Office for Students opened a TEF consultation on how its revised quality assessment system would work. The official announcement puts the treatment of institutional and student submissions on the agenda.
What the TEF consultation covers
Following the revised TEF design announced in June, this consultation addresses assessment evidence, assessor and panel judgements, and the treatment of submissions. The implementation details remain proposals.
The OfS also seeks views on incentives and interventions, including recruitment limits for providers rated Requires improvement. Responses close on 28 January 2027, with supporting guidance and updated dashboards due on 5 November 2026.
