What the QAA TQER thematic review found
The report brings together Tertiary Quality Enhancement Review outcomes for ten Scottish colleges and universities from 2024-25 and 2025-26. It analyses the findings and recommendations of those institutional reviews.
The full thematic report records student engagement strengths in six reviews and recommendations in eight; four included both. Positive examples included tailored surveys, programme representation and student involvement in enhancement. Recommendations covered feedback and representation arrangements, but most encouraged deeper partnership. The report describes the direction as:
"move beyond student consultation into genuine student partnership"
Effective feedback collection and a need for stronger partnership can coexist. The report also recognises student support as a strength in nine reviews. Its conclusion says QAA Scotland will use the analysis with students and staff to shape enhancement work, including a planned relaunch of Focus On in 2026-27.
