QAA green skills report links module feedback to curriculum review

The new QAA green skills report recommends involving students in the design and evaluation of sustainability learning. Published by the Quality Assurance Agency on 21 October 2026, it recommends working with students on curriculum design.

What the QAA green skills report recommends

The Oxford Brookes-led, QAA-funded project asks curriculum teams to map green skills and their assessment, and involve students in developing learning across a programme. It also recommends that careers teams help students recognise the relevance of those skills to employment. These are enhancement recommendations for UK higher education.

The full report, pages 52–53 makes the feedback connection explicit. It asks students' unions and advocacy bodies to help students describe green skills activity in module evaluations. It also recommends drawing on alumni and current placement students when reviewing the relevance of technical skills teaching.

The project held seven workshops between November 2025 and April 2026, involving 125 participants: 54 students, 44 university staff and 27 employer representatives. Its workshop evidence comes from five English universities, and students were recruited for a demonstrable interest in sustainability. The report cautions against treating the findings as representative of UK higher education.
